FlexSim 2023 Features
Here are the features and improvements you’ll discover in FlexSim 2023.
FlexSim now contains all the features required for fully integrated Bonsai partners. When you’re ready for your next AI or machine learning project, these enhancements will make FlexSim simpler to use with Bonsai. You can use FlexSim as an unmanaged simulator, which will let you test the model as a simulator. There is also a simple button to export the simulator package as a .zip file. Then, from your Bonsai interface, choose FlexSim from the list of simulator options and drag in your .zip file.
Our Emulation Module has been updated and greatly expanded. Anyone with a FlexSim license can create OPC DA and Modbus connections and take advantage of improved stability and error handling. And if you want access to our full roster of supported protocols, consider talking to your FlexSim representative about the new Emulation license. This license will get you access to Beckhoff, S7, PLCSIM Advanced, OPC UA, and Allen-Bradley connections, with more in future releases.
FlexSim 2023 also brings new capabilities for AGV and AMR modeling. Additional events help with deadlock and allocation failure, and dynamic barrier management. You can customize your deadlock recovery with new parameters, which will help with modeling Kiva-type systems. We’ve also added the “OnBuildTravelPath” event to add custom allocation points, which is helpful for AutoStore and similar high-density ASRS models. The routing accessibility mode is also improved to be more informative—color-coded lines show the paths and distance costs for the routing options.
These are just scratching the surface of what you’ll find in FlexSim 2023. There’s a new picklist option to set the stacking method for transporters, allowing them to carry two or more items side-by-side in a stack. The toolbox now visually shows when a tool is disabled. Decide activities have a “Connector By Time” option that allows you to route tokens based on the time of day. The GIS Module now supports geocoding queries in Map and Point property panels, so you can search for a location or enter a ZIP code to get and use its latitude and longitude.
There are dozens of other improvements and enhancements, too—so check the release notes for more details. Thanks for watching, and we hope you enjoy FlexSim 2023!
