A Quick Guide to FlexSim at IIE 2014
The 2014 IIE Annual Conference & Expo is fast approaching — the event will kick off in Montréal, Canada in just eight days! Between prepping your schedule and packing your suitcase, take a few moments to see what’s happening in and around FlexSim at IIE 2014:
- FlexSim will be present during the entire conference (May 31st through June 3rd), so come say “Hi” and visit with us at Booth #210. We’ve revamped FlexSim Zombie Attack, our simulation game, to run in FlexSim 7 and showcase the latest shadow and lighting effects for a better visual experience, and we’ll have it available to play throughout the conference. If you’re a student, bring your A-game: a $100 Amazon.com gift card will be awarded to the university student with the highest score.
- Dr. Allen Greenwood will be conducting a workshop, Teaching Simulation Through Modern Simulation Software, on Sunday, June 1st from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. in Room 511c. He will share his approach and experiences in teaching simulation, providing extensive illustrations and examples of how to effectively teach simulation using state-of-the-art software. Dr. Greenwood is Professor of Industrial and Systems Engineering at Mississippi State University, and brings over 30 years of experience in simulation research, teaching, consulting, and professional practice — bring your comments, questions, and experiences and get the most out of this interactive workshop!
- FlexSim’s French Canadian distributor, Patrick Cloutier, will be giving two presentations during the conference. The first, Optimizing Healthcare Services Using Visual 3D Simulation, will be held on Monday, June 2nd from 2:40 to 3:15 p.m. in Room 511a. Mr. Cloutier will discuss the steps of a simulation project in healthcare, detail the benefits of using simulation, and present applied uses of simulation in healthcare. The second, A Small Price to Test a Multi-Million Dollar Investment, will be held on Tuesday, June 3rd from 5:00 to 5:35 p.m. in Room 511c. This presentation will detail the use of simulation to validate the massive expense of a proposed conveyor system; you can read the project review in the July 2013 FlexSim Quarterly.
Have a safe trip to Montréal and we look forward to seeing you there!
