The truck haulage simulation application developed by FlexSim will be used in RPM’s HAULSIM, the first industry-specific haulage simulation solution.

FlexSim Software Products, Inc. has partnered with mining consultancy and development giant RungePincockMinarco (RPM) to deliver an exciting and powerful new software product to the mining industry.

The product, HAULSIM, is a haulage simulation package. It is the most powerful tool available for modeling, analyzing, visualizing, and optimizing a haulage network, providing confidence and accuracy in mine plans. HAULSIM is fast to learn, quick to set up, and easy to use, and represents the mining sector’s first industry-specific haulage simulation solution.

“Right now across the industry, capital spend is being heavily scrutinized,” said Craig Halliday, RPM’s Director of Software. “HAULSIM provides a quick and easy method of modeling the impact of extra equipment. Through the simulation process, HAULSIM can even help miners find efficiencies in their current operational configuration through changes in their haulage plan, without the cost of expanding their fleet and without the need to spend any capital to test assumptions.”

RPM will make use of FlexSim’s truck haulage application, which was created to aid in simulating roadways in open-pit mines and to test different traffic systems within the simulation. Using the data acquired from a real mining system, the application helps to streamline the process of developing an open-pit haulage system.

“We are excited to be working with RPM in mining,” said FlexSim CEO Bill Nordgren. “Haulage simulation is a natural extension for us, and given RPM’s previous history with their TALPAC and HAULNET products it makes perfect sense for us to be working together to help miners reduce their unit costs.”

HAULSIM was officially announced by RPM at the 2014 SME Annual Meeting & Exhibit in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA.

About RPM

RPM is the market leader in mine scheduling space, with its software being used at more than 1000 sites globally. Their TALPAC, HAULNET, and XPAC software solutions comprise 35 years of work calculating fleet requirements in mining systems, and have become an essential tool for mine planners worldwide.
