Hi!
Does anyone know how to reset the password for the Flexnet license manager?

The only way I know how to reset the password is to uninstall and reinstall the lmadmin software. That will reset the name and password both back to admin.
Uninstalling the license manager will not affect your licenses. You can uninstall and reinstall the license manager and your licenses will still be intact.

In using the LAN license manager, the service daemon did not start automatically with the booting of the server. How do I set it to start with the system?
Thanks

Something I'd check is if it's listed in the Services area of the Management Console set the Startup Type to Automatic if it isn't already.

Jason,
Thanks!
By right the service should start with the booting of the server, but now I need to start manually. I have another client who could not see the localhost:8080 being display in the IE until they manually trigger the file in the directory.
Look forward to your finding!!

Hi
Just to share this so that if anyone has the similar experience could be benefit from this.
Problem: Not able to run the Flexnet License Manager automatically
Symptom:
Without activating the lmadmin.exe and flexsim.exe at the directory level, localhost:8080 is not able show the LM interface
Possible cause: Existing FlexNet LM service is running the service for other license. You can check this by running the Service at the Control Panel -> Adminstration Tools. Look out for FlexNet Licensing Service and check if the path is pointing to the right directory for lmadmin.exe.
Solution:
Create a new service.
lmadmin -installservice <servicename>
With this you will create a new service for the lmadmin.exe
Hope this will help others who find problem in this area. :)

Hi, I would like to know if there is any difference with the installation at Window Sever 2000 as they do not come with firewall. Do I skip the step of the granting exception?
Thanks
David

Just to add on this for those who are not familiar with DOS.
1. Start -> Accessories -> Run
2. Browse to C:\Program Files\FLEXnet Publisher License Server Manager\lmadmin.exe and select the file.
3. Add the line -installservice <servicename>. You need to give a name to the service name. For example Flexsim5
4. Click Ok.
If the above could not work, then you will need to go back to the Command prompt.
1. Start -> Accessories -> Command Prompt (Right click to run as adminstrator)
2. Use to the following command to navigate to the right directory as above Point 2.
a. cd/ - Go to C:/ directory
b. cd <directory name> - go into the directory folder.
3. Enter lmadmin -installservice <servicename> and hit enter. You need to give a name to the service name Flexsim5.
